Helping tackle musculoskeletal conditions
Here at Alexander Green we’re always looking to embrace the latest technology and bring our customers the most advanced office furniture products available. That’s why, as soon as we heard about the brand new ergoFIX range of office seating we just had to take a closer look.
The statistics around back pain make worrying reading. According to Public Health England, musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions are the largest cause of lost working days in the UK after coughs and colds. It’s estimated that a staggering 28 million work days (or 22.4% of total sickness absence) are lost to MSK conditions annually in the UK, costing the economy in the region of £7 billion a year.
MSK conditions can affect the joints, bones and muscles, and can also include less common auto-immune diseases and back pain. In fact, close to 15 million people in the UK are affected by MSK conditions, and that means they’re suffering with symptoms of pain, stiffness, limited movement and disability. As well as negatively impacting affecting their quality of life and independence, it can make working really uncomfortable. Not only that, MSK conditions are often linked with depression and can increase the risk of developing other chronic illnesses.
The brilliant ergoFIX range of office seating specifically addresses MSK conditions. Designed in collaboration with ergonomic specialists, physiotherapists and DSE assessors, ergoFIX seating provides positive, preventative and corrective solutions to posture issues at home and in the workplace. ergoFIX recognises the necessity for superior, variable and flexible support, which in turn leads to a healthier, happier and more productive working environment.
As Lee Alexander, owner of Alexander Green Office Interiors, observes, with the continuing restrictions necessitated by Covid-19 and the growth in the numbers of people now working from home, it’s more important than ever to take back pain and MSK conditions seriously. ‘We’re hugely impressed by the new ergoFIX range, and they’re also really good value for money,’ comments Lee. ‘We’re speaking to lots of clients who are focusing on the mental and physical well-being of their staff, especially as so many are now working from home. Many of these clients are investing in high-quality, medically-endorsed chairs to help keep their employees fit and healthy. The ergoFIX range not looks stylish and contemporary, it has also been engineered to adapt dynamically and respond to the user. We’re really excited to be offering ergoFIX to our growing clientbase at exactly the right time.’
